The organisation ZOG MH (Zorgvragersorganisatie GGZ Mid Holland)is a non governmental organisation (NGO) and has been started in 1994 by clients from mental health care, addiction and social care and homeless people to advocate their (and their nearest) interests. The ZOG MH has 10 employees and about 50 volunteers.
Areas of specific expertise: recovery support, expert by experience, peer to peer projects, center of expertise and to advocate for issues from our target groups.
(Target groups: (ex) clients and their nearest from mental health care, addiction and social care and homeless people.)
For our purpose group we are a platform to the region government and mental health organisations. We support people in their recovery. We have projects such as peer to peer projects, starting recovery groups, train our volunteers to educate on schools for social work, a street advocate and information and support point for our purpose group. We also organise mental health awareness sessions and anti stigma sessions and projects.
Lived experience integrated in our organization
Our whole organization is based on recovery methods. Almost all of our employees and all of our volunteers are people with lived experience. We train people how to live their lives, re integrate to find and retain work (as volunteer and/or paid).
We train adults and youth, locally for our own organization and at request on location all over the country. Our expertise is to train people how to work with their lived experience especially in the field of education, peer to peer support, recovery groups etc.
